YPT workshop July 14 - August 1 Monday - Friday, 9:15 am - 2:00 pm Entering grades 3 - 12 Our staff of theater artists is excited to lead young students in creating an original production! Workshop mornings are filled with classes in creative dramatics and dance. In the afternoons, participants take part in writing an original script, rehearsing, and performing it. The YPT Workshop will culminate with live performances for the public on the last three days of the session. SUMMER CLASSES - ART CAMPS Kids Art Weeks Create our own "lurking" woodland creatures through mixed media and a lot of imagination! Ages: Grades 1-4 Day & Time: Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Dates: June 16- 19; June 23-29 Instructor: Kelly Lynn Stanton-Nutt Youth Art Weeks Create your own "lurking" woodland creatures through mixed media and a lot of imagination. Ages: Grades 5+ Day & Time: Monday - Thursday, 1:00 - 4:00 pm Dates: June 16-19; June 23-26 Instructor: Rafael Estrella Youth Clay Spend two weeks in the Clay Studio creating creatures that lurk in our woods and building the strange homes they live in. Ages: Grades 5+ Day & Time: Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Dates: June 16-26 Instructor: Rafael Estrella Make a Print from Nature Creating nature printing, collages, and leaf painting, you will take home cards, collages, and stamps. Garage Band Camp July 8-9, 1-3 pm Guitarists, bassists, keyboard players and drummers 12 years and older come "make some noise" !!!!!! and learn to play and jam together. Led by local musicians Gregory Innes, Neil Rowley and musicians from St. Olaf. We want all ages, boys and girls, experienced and (almost) newbies! Spend 45 minutes each week singing, playing instruments and dancing with your infant, toddler or preschooler in a playful, non-performance-oriented atmosphere. These developmentally appropriate classes guide young children through the crucial early stages of music development and feature great arrangements of original and traditional songs of various tonalities, meters, and cultural styles. August 13, Wednesday, 1-4 pm Taking a cue from Alexander Calder, each team will make a "found object" circus made from bits of cloth and wire, and other odd objects!!! We'll have samples on hand for inspiration. Instructor: Kelly Lynn Stanton-Nutt Fee: $35 m/$39 nm Make a Memory Book July 22 & 23, Tuesday and Wednesday, 1-3 pm Bring in your photos, ticket stubs, fliers, maps, stickers, wrappers, bottle caps, tokens and other "memorabilia" from a favorite outing, vacation, or weekend away. We'll combine your treasures with colorful bits of paper, string, lettering - and a collection of other "found" things - to make a most amazing memory book that you'll want to share time and time again. Instructor: Kelly Lynn Stanton-Nutt Fee: $47 m /$52 nm Make and Tell a Family Story August 4 -7, Mon-Thurs, 9 -10:30 am You and your grandchild will develop a story based on family history. Funny stories, sad stories, stories from a long time ago, stories from just yesterday. Then as a team you will find a way to share that story with the group. Instructor: Marie Gery FREE!!! (Please call the office to register) Paint a Pot & Plant a Flower July 30 & 31, Wednesday, 10 am 12- pm (Arts Guild) & Thursday 9-10:30 am (Northfield Senior Center) Decorate two 8 inch flower pots on Wednesday and plant them on Thursday. Each one of you will have a potted plant to take home with you. Instructor: Dar Brooks Fee: $23m/$26 nm Photo Scavenger Hunt & Book July 15-16 Tuesday,Pick up your scavenger hunt list after 8 am at the NSC Wednesday, make your book from 1:00-3:30 pm at the Northfield Arts Guild Starting from the Senior Resource Center, you'll travel around town together with your camera, smart phone or tablet to find and photograph items from the list of objects we provide. Bring your device and cable back to the Senior Center to have your pictures downloaded and printed out. Wednesday, you meet at the Arts Guild where Dar will help you make an accordion book using your photos and other fun papers. Instructor: Dar Brooks & Volunteer Fee: $29 m /$33 nm Register here A + Art Club (Autism in the Arts) Theater Workshop July 21 - August 1, Monday, Tuesday & Friday, Times to be determined Ages: 15+ This workshop is an extension of A+ Art Club (Autism and the Arts), where participants will explore theater games and storytelling. We will take a well known fairytale and turn it on its head creating something that is uniquely A+! We will conclude the 2 week session with an informal performance at the theater.
