ABOUT THE ROLE: Reporting to the dental program coordinator, the licensed dental assistant will assist in all areas of program activities. The successful candidate will be a collaborator by nature, extremely reliable, and holds a strong belief in organization’s mission.
Full time, Non-exempt, 30-40 hours/week, $20-$30/hour
LOCATION: Owatonna, Faribault, Northfield; Mostly days, some evenings and weekends
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Help the dentist, dental therapist, and dental hygienist during treatments (before, during, and after procedures).
- Clean and prepare tools and equipment.
- Work directly with patients in settings like schools and public health programs. This includes applying sealants, fluoride varnish, and cleaning children’s teeth. Perform office tasks like scheduling, answering phone calls, helping with billing, and ordering supplies. Help with patient referrals to specialists when needed.
- Work well with others and manage different tasks at once.
- Feel comfortable in diverse work environments.
- Collect and record medical and dental information, including taking patient vital signs.
- Chart the condition of teeth and gums. - Being bilingual in Spanish/English or Somali/English is a plus, but not required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a dental assistant license in Minnesota.
- CPR certification (training is available).
- Understand how to work under Collaborative Practice Authorization in community settings.
- Be able to take impressions and make models and mouth guards.
- Take different types of X-rays (like intraoral, panoramic, and portable Nomad X-rays).
