CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for our customers
• Helping customers select products
• Answering customers’ questions about our products, classes, and other services
• Handling point-of-sale transactions
• Answering questions about knitting (and, if possible, crochet) techniques as time allows

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performing other sales- or marketing-related activities as they arise, such as making signs, setting up
displays, or assembling kits
• Straightening up the shop, including light cleaning and dusting
• Taking out trash and recycling, as needed
• Attending a monthly staff meeting either online or in person (usually 9-10am on the first Tuesday of
the month)

SUCCESS IN THIS POSITION REQUIRES:
• Strong knitting or crochet skills (sufficient to answer most customer questions)
• The willingness and ability to provide patient and friendly customer service
• Strong communication and listening skills
• Attention to detail (to keep inventory organized and follow multi-step procedures)
• The ability to work independently and stay informed about new products, shop events, and things
happening more broadly in the industry
• Familiarity with online resources, particularly Ravelry.com
• A willingness and ability to learn computer-based POS, inventory, and task-tracking systems

SCHEDULE
About 11 hours per week: Thu 10-1:30 and Fri 10-5:30pm*
In addition, a few training shifts will likely be scheduled outside of these hours, and some availability to
help cover other shifts and special events is required.
* We close at 5pm Memorial Day through Labor Day

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Paid hourly at a rate to be determined based on experience; base rate $12
An employee discount of 20% off of all non-consignment inventory.
Free classes, as long as there is room in the class
