Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Coordinator to join our team. The Kennel Coordinator will be responsible for the daily care, health, and well-being of the dogs in our facility. This role also ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the kennel and surrounding grounds. Additionally, the Kennel Coordinator will periodically assist in the training of dogs, contributing to their physical and mental enrichment.
Key Responsibilities
Dog Care and Supervision:

Check-in and check-out of dogs, including regular use of software/technology and appropriate storage and labeling of any dog-specific food or medications.

Feed, water, and administer any medications as directed.

Ensure all dogs receive appropriate exercise, airing, socialization, and enrichment activities.

Monitor the health and behavior of each dog, reporting any concerns promptly.
Kennel Maintenance:

Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organized kennel facility, including cleaning kennels, yards, and communal areas. Ensure that the facility and grounds are well-maintained and presentable at all times.

Follow strict cleaning and sanitation protocols to prevent the spread of illness.

Properly dispose of waste and follow all health and safety protocols.

Ensure supplies (food, cleaning products, etc.) are adequately stocked and assist with inventory management.
Dog Training Support:

Help reinforce positive behaviors and basic obedience skills during daily interactions with the dogs.

Support training sessions under the supervision of senior trainers. Conduct obedience and other training when qualified and at the direction of senior trainers.

Document training progress and observations as directed by Training staff.
General:

Interact with customers in a friendly, professional manner, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.

Follow organizational policies and procedures for safety and animal welfare.

Provide support during special events, such as meet-and-greets or donor visits.

Communicate effectively with team members to ensure the highest standards of care.
Qualifications

Passion for working with animals.

Previous experience in animal care (kennel, veterinary, or rescue work) preferred.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Physical ability to handle large, active dogs and perform manual tasks (e.g., lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, standing for long periods). Active environment that requires employee to be on their feet for hours at a time. Must be physically capable of working for long periods of time in inclement weather.

Team-oriented with excellent communication skills.
Preferred Skills

Basic knowledge of dog behavior, training techniques, or service dog requirements.

Familiarity with kennel cleaning protocols and safety procedures.

CPR and First Aid certification for animals (or willingness to obtain).
